Hey!
This is my second time applying to the program, however the first time was a
very terribly done mail-in right after high school when I had no experience or
intention of actually being accepted. That being said, I was already kind of
familiar in the realms of the stress of all of this portfolio building and have
been enrolled in Sheridan's VCA (Visual and Creative Arts) first year program
as of September.
Here is my portfolio score. This year's cutoff was a very high 58 compared to the other years, and looking at everyone's score sheets they were marked very harshly. If you can't see well, I got a 66 as my final grade.
Sorry about the poor quality of the
images.
DRAWING TEST (40%)
REMEMBER! ALL DRAWINGS MUST BE SCANS
AND NOT ORIGINALS BECAUSE THEY RETAIN THEM FOR FURTHER GRADING.
Also for future reference please do not half-ass your drawing test like I did. As you can see by my scores (which ultimately brought down my overall good scores on my oroginal portfolio), they really do matter. Put more time into them, but don't overcompensate. Find a happy in-between and make them good without too much rendering. Just basic shadows and shading to accentuate the figure over the background as well as a little more contrast than I have.

you may draw them on
larger paper so long as you scan them to be 8.5x11 for the hand-in (I drew them
on 9x12 paper)
1a (one figure seated)
1b (one figure standing)
1c (one figure participating in every
day activity)
2 (a figure in an interior with tone)
(hatching + ink wash)
3 (a view through a window) (I'm not really happy with this one to be honest, I feel
like I might get a low grade on it)
4a (still life)
4b (still life transformation) (I know this is boring, I was having such a hard time
with this one if I'm going to be honest. I also blew it off until last minute
and got so impatient while redrawing it a million times hahaha. Try and be more
creative than me. Change the perspective... Do something fun.)
PERSONAL WORK (60%)
up to 25 pieces
(heres a video of me flipping through the pages + a glimpse of my sketchbook is you want some funky music https://twitter.com/LEVKAWA/status/837503403525881856)
